STEP 1: CAN I PUT MY PRODUCT IN THE WASHING MACHINE?

You can find out exactly what to do by looking at the care label on your product. Here you will find all the important information about washing and drying.  It is important not to use to high a spin setting. 800 to 1,000 revolutions per minute issufficient.

STEP 2: CLOSE ZIPPERS, BUTTONS AND VELCRO FASTENERS

Close all buttons, Velcro and zippers. This prevents snagging and protects the products in the washing machine, helping them to retain their shape. 

STEP 3: A LOT OF DIRT ?

For more stubborn dirt, simply include a pre-wash cycle in the program, or soak the product before washing.

This will dissolve the dirt particles and make them easier to remove. Simply put it in warm water with some detergent and let it soak. Half an hour should be long enough.

STEP 4: DETERGENT — WHAT SHOULD I USE?

What detergent should you use now? A standard household liquid detergent is sufficient. Powder should be avoided as its coarse structure may cause damage to the membrane. A maximum of one capful is enough, usually a little less. Do not use fabric softener. Sometimes manufacturers offer their own sports detergents, which you can use.

STEP 5: RINSE

To ensure that no residue remains on the product, it is best to start another rinse cycle to remove all residues and avoid leaving any unwanted layers that could otherwise clog the pores of the membrane and affect its function.

In order for your jacket to keep its protective layer, you still need to dry it properly.

DRYING

If your DWR protective layer is still active, you can simply hang your product up to dry. Alternatively, you can dry your product on the gentle cycle of your dryer. This is even often beneficial for the function of the DWR, because it is activated by heat.

If you don't have a dryer at home, you can also iron the product from the inside on a low setting.

Attention! Be sure to put a cloth between the iron and the jacket! The heat reactivates the DWR function sustainably.

REFRESHING IMPREGNATION

If the function has already diminished somewhat, we would recommend adding a wet impregnation (Nikwax, for example) to the wash cycle and then drying or ironing the product as outlined above.

After that, water should bead off the product again as usual.

STEP 1: FOLLOW THE CARE LABEL INSTRUCTIONS

Before you put your jersey in the machine, first look at the care label. This will provide you with everything you need to know.

STEP 2: MANY FINE DETAILS?

For particularly fine products with many details, it is best to wash your jersey in a laundry bag. This protects your jersey and prevents possible snagging etc. with other products. It will still come out as clean as without a wash bag.

STEP 3: THE DETERGENT OF YOUR CHOICE

You don't need a special detergent here either. Household detergent is more than sufficient. You can also use mild detergent or extra functional detergent; the choice is yours.

STEP 4: DRYING

Dry according to the instructions on your care label, and your jersey will be ready to ride again.

STEP 1: PAY ATTENTION TO THE CARE LABEL

Look at the care label on your product offers for instructions on how to best wash and dry your product.

STEP 2: SOAK HEAVILY SOILED CLOTHING

Simply put it in warm water with some wool detergent and let it soak. Half an hour should be long enough to loosen the coarsest dirt particles from the fibers. 

STEP 3: WASHING MACHINE

It is important to remember not to wash the product on too hot a setting, otherwise you run the risk of the product loosing its shape. It is best to choose the wool wash cycle of the washing machine. 400-800 rpm and a low temperature (cold: maximum 30°C depending on the care label) is enough and will be gentle on your clothes. It is best to use a special wool detergent without enzymes and fabric softener.

STEP 1: PUT THE GARMENT ON A DRYING RACK

You must dry your garment lying flat as hanging it runs the risk of the product becoming misshapen.

Using the dryer is also not recommended, as wool products shrink very easily if you dry them in a tumble dryer.

You should also avoid putting them on the radiator or in the sun, as this damages the structure of the fibers and therefore the wearing properties.

STEP 2: OPTIONAL IRONING

Wool does not usually need to be ironed, but if the label allows it, simply turn it inside out and iron on the lowest setting without steam.

Now everything smells fresh again, is clean and ready for your next adventures.

THE DELICATE DOWN AND FIBERS NEED SPACE

Your product should only be packed in a stuff sack for transportation. The rest of the time, the jacket is best stored in a large bag, in a dry place. This will give the individual feathers/fibers all the space they need—without any compression. You can also shake the bag a little from time to time. If you have enough space in your closet, you can also store your product hanging up, of course. 

STUFFING INSTEAD OF FOLDING

Instead of always folding the jacket/vest in the same pattern, it is better to stuff the jacket into a bag. This applies to transportation (stuff sack) and storage (large bag). 

AIR OFTEN, WASH RARELY

Every wash impairs the fluffiness and thus the insulation performance of the down/fibers. Always weigh up whether extensive airing or partial hand washing (small stains or just the lining material) is sufficient. 

You should use a special down detergent for this type of clothing. These detergents maintain the bulkiness and thus the insulating properties of the down and loose fibers. Under no circumstances should you use fabric softener. It is also advisable to carefully clean the detergent compartment of your washing machine beforehand to remove any residues. 

NEVER USE FABRIC SOFTENER!

STEP 1: FOLLOW INSTRUCTIONS

Follow the sewn-in washing instructions; dry cleaning is not absolutely necessary. However, a professional laundry service for down could prove useful.

STEP 2: REPAIR TEARS AND DAMAGED AREAS

Repair all tears and damaged areas before washing to prevent further tearing and leakage of the down and fibers in the washing machine.

STEP 3: CLOSE ZIPPERS

Close all zippers and Velcro fasteners on the jacket to protect the outer material.

STEP 4: PRE-HEAT STAINS

Pre-treat stubborn stains on your jacket with a little detergent.

STEP 5: WASH ONE AT A TIME

Down also needs space when washing, so don't wash it with other items and make sure you don't fill up the washing machine—a thick down or padded jacket is already enough for a normal-sized washing machine. 

STEP 6: CHOOSE THE RIGHT PROGRAM

For machine washing, choose a gentle delicate or wool wash program at a low temperature (check the care label). Wet down/loose fibers are sensitive, and washing too roughly may even damage your jacket (also see drying).

STEP 7: RINSE CYCLE

An extra rinse cycle with plenty of water ensures that all detergent residues are thoroughly washed out.

STEP 1: USE A BATHTUB

Put the jacket/vest in the bathtub with plenty of lukewarm water and down detergent (dosed according to the manufacturer's instructions).

STEP 2: PRE-HEAT STAINS

Stubborn stains on your product should be pre-treated with detergent. 

STEP 3: SQUEEZE OUT AIR

Squeeze out the air and leave to soak for about an hour. Do not rub or knead!

STEP 4: RINSE OUT DETERGENT

Rinse out the detergent really carefully (if necessary, soak again in clear water) and wipe off any detergent stains with a sponge or cloth. Be careful when moving wet down. 

STEP 5: SQUEEZE OUT WATER

Remove suds/water from the jacket by gently squeezing it out. Caution: Do not wring! 

STEP 1: CARRY CAREFULLY

Wet down and fibers are heavy, so they can shift and clump together when wet jackets are transported. In the case of full jackets with a very thin outer material and complex chamber construction, the chambers may even tear. If washing with other garments, carry the laundry together in one bulk, using a large basket, if necessary. 

STEP 2: USE TENNIS BALLS AND A DRYER

After air-drying briefly, it is best to dry the products with three clean tennis balls at a maximum of 40°C in a large tumble dryer, e.g. in a laundromat. Down that has clumped together during washing will regain its loft in the dryer. The tennis balls in the drum help to loosen the down further.

AVOID STRONG HEAT AND DIRECT SUNLIGHT

STEP 3: REFRESHING IMPREGNATION

If moisture no longer beads off the impregnated outer material, you can also treat your products with an impregnation spray for textiles. The waterproofing spray needs to be activated by heat in the tumble dryer. Without impregnation, the down will quickly become wet and clump together. 

STEP 1: REMOVE PADS

First of all, check if you can remove all pads from your protector, if possible. Most of the time, they can be easily pulled out of the inside of the protector.

If not, our protectors absorb a minimal amount of water — less than 1% — and so can be washed by hand. 

STEP 2: CLOSE ZIPPERS, BUTTONS, AND VELCRO FASTENERS

Close all zippers and Velcro closures on the protector to prevent damage.  

STEP 3: WASHING

To preserve your protectors for as long as possible, we recommend that you wash them by hand. To do this, simply fill a bucket, your sink or bathtub with lukewarm water (approx. 30°C). Before you put the protectors into the water, you can carefully brush off coarse dirt and grime. Then simply clean them in the water.

If you still want to put the protectors in the washing machine, please follow the specific washing instructions on the product or wash at max. 30°C and on the lowest spin speed.

 

STEP 4: DETERGENT — WHAT SHOULD I USE

Never use fabric softener or bleach and stay away from powder detergents! 
These can damage the silicone prints and in the worst case affect the functionality of your protector.

If you want to use detergent, we recommend you use special liquid detergent for sportswear.

STEP 5: DRYING

Simply place the protectors on a clothes rack to dry. Do not put them in direct sunlight, on the radiator or in the dryer!!!! 

STEP 6: REINSERT PADS

Once the protectors are dry, you can carefully put the pads back into the protectors. Make sure that you insert them correctly into the protector. 

STEP 1: REMOVE INNER PADS

Carefully remove the inner pads from your helmet, noting the layout before doing so (if you forget, you can view them in the product images on the ION website) 

STEP 2: WASHING

Pack the pads preferably in a wash bag to both preserve the material and to not lose any small parts in the washing machine.

Follow the specific washing instructions on the product or wash at a temperature of 30°C and on your washing machines lowest the possible spin speed. 

STEP 3: DETERGENT — WHAT SHOULD I USE

Never use fabric softener or bleach, and it´s best to stay away from powdered detergent too! We recommend, if you want to use detergent, to use a special liquid detergent for sportswear.

 

STEP 4: DRYING

Simply place the inner pads on a clothes rack to dry. Do not place in direct sunlight, on the radiator or in the dryer!!!! 

STEP 5: CLEANING OUTER SHELL

To clean the outer shell of your helmet, simply take a damp cloth and gently wipe the dirt from the surface. Do not use any cleaning agents when doing this. 

Then dry with a dry cloth. 

STEP 6: REPLACE PADS

Replace the dry pads back into the helmet and you are ready to go 

STEP 1: REMOVE INSOLE & LACES

Before cleaning, remove the shoe insert or insole and the laces from the shoes.

Loosen all straps or, for example, BOA closure. 

STEP 2: REMOVE DIRT

Remove coarse dirt and grime from the surface with a brush and some water.  

STEP 3: WASHING

Now you can clean your shoes inside and out with lukewarm water (approx. 30°C). 

STEP 4: DRYING

To dry the shoes, put them in a warm and dry place (ideally in a boiler room) and stuff them with newspaper. If the paper becomes soaked, replace it with fresh paper. Do not put the shoes on the radiator or in the dryer to dry them as this can break them!!!! 

STEP 5: IMPREGNATE

Waterproof your shoes regularly, preferably after cleaning. Relace the shoes, insert the insoles and you are ready to go! 

STEP 1: CLOSE ZIPPERS, BUTTONS, AND VELCRO FASTENERS

Close all zippers and velcro closures on the gloves to avoid damage. 

STEP 2: WASHING

To keep your gloves for as long as possible, we recommend that you wash them by hand. To do this, simply fill a bucket, your sink or bathtub with lukewarm water (approx. 30 °C). Before you put the gloves into the water, you can carefully brush off any coarse dirt and grime. Then simply clean them in the water.

STEP 3: WASHING MACHINE

If you still want to put the gloves in the washing machine, please follow the specific washing instructions on the product or wash at a temperature of max. 30°C and on the lowest possible spin speed. It is best to put the gloves in a wash bag to protect the material and to avoid losing any small parts in the washing machine.

CAUTION: LEATHER GLOVES

Never machine wash gloves made of genuine leather! You can clean them by hand with a soft brush. You should also treat the leather surface with a special leather care product. 

STEP 3: DETERGENT — WHAT SHOULD I USE

If you want to use detergent, we recommend you use a special liquid detergent for sportswear.

STEP 4: DRYING

Simply place the gloves on a clothes rack to dry. Do not put them in direct sunlight, on the radiator or in the dryer!!!! 

STEP 1: EMPTY BACKPACK/ REMOVE PADS

Empty your backpack completely and remove any protectors or pads.  

STEP 2: WASHING

To preserve your protector for as long as possible, we recommend that you wash it by hand. Simply fill a large container or your bathtub with lukewarm water (approx. 30°C). Before you put the protectors into the water, you can carefully brush off any coarse dirt and grime. After a short soaking time, simply clean the backpack with a soft brush or cloth.

STEP 3: DETERGENT — WHAT SHOULD I USE

Never use fabric softener or bleach and stay away from powder detergents!
If you want to use detergent, we recommend you use a special liquid detergent for sportswear.

STEP 4: SQUEEZE FOAM PIECES

Gently squeeze all foam pieces and padding in the water to clean them thoroughly. Clean the zippers and then rinse the backpack properly to remove all residues. 

STEP 5: DRYING

Thoroughly squeeze out all foam and padding before hanging. Then hang the backpack upside down over the bathtub or a container. 

Do not place the backpack in direct sunlight, on the radiator or in the dryer!!!

STEP 6: IMPREGNATE

Waterproof your backpack regularly. When doing so, please follow the manufacturer's instructions exactly.
