YOUNG BLOOD SURF CAMP - BUGGERRU

Just when the waiting period was almost over and hope was running out, the green light was given for the first Italian Young Blood Camp for Surfing in Sardinia, offered by ION to seek young talent in the sport in Italy.

Families and organizers had 24 hours to get to the right spot at the right time. The Young Blood project is the highlight of the Boards&More Group, created to involve the new generation in watersports, with a touch of healthy competition and the hope to see the water community grow year by year.

Ten kids under 16 from all over Italy were selected to join three days of high-class coaching with Lorenzo Castagna, an experienced surfer, former national team coach, and ION rider. ION’s goal? To find local talent and support it on its surfing journey, sharing the love for riding and the sea, creating memories and new connections, overcoming limits, and pushing the kids' skills to the next level.

Surfing doesn’t only happen in the water: Lorenzo’s coaching included sessions in the waves, as well as physical preparation, mobility, and functional training on the beach, all designed to improve riding and body control on the wave. The kids progressed rapidly from session to session, fueled by mutual motivation and competitiveness. The camp concluded with an Expression Session, a friendly contest allowing the young surfers to showcase their skills under pressure, giving their best and cheering for each other.

Buggerru was the perfect spot for various reasons: daily waves, a break close to shore for efficient coaching and filming, the warm welcome and support from Lorenzo, the breathtaking views, and the ideal area for off-the-water training and educational moments.

The first ION Surfing Young Blood Camp in Sardinia was one for the books! We can’t wait for the next one and to see the ION Surfing family grow more every year.

STAY TUNED FOR NEXT YEAR´S CAMP!
