Camille’s journey began not on a podium, but in the water – again and again. “All the hard work, dedication and sacrifices it takes to get there… it’s hours and hours spent on the water to train, trying to unlock new tricks,“ she explains, “Some sessions you just go out there and it’s all about crashing – nothing really seems to click – and that can get very frustrating. And then there are sessions where everything just aligns: me, the kite, the wind – all in sync. It’s just the best thing ever.“

Kiting, for Camille, is more than performance. It’s a discipline that’s shaped her identity. “The mindset that kiting has given me – like focus, resilience and achievement… In everything I do I carry that with me.“

Between Storms and Stillness

The same wind that lifts can also drain. Camille knows when to push – and when to pause. After competitions, Camille lets herself breathe. “I give myself time to enjoy life outside of kitesurfing. And then, already a few days or weeks later, I start to feel that pull again… it’s what keeps me alive.“

This ebb and flow – between effort and ease – is how she stays not just at the top of her sport, but in love with it. Letting space in is what brings the hunger back.

Still, what stands out most is the gratitude behind the glory. There’s a surrealness to Camille’s life now. World travel. Sponsorships. Cameras. But her feet stay in the sand. “There are many moments where I can’t believe this is my life. Because what I‘m living now – it’s been a dream since I started kitesurfing,“ she says.

The call from Red Bull was one of those surreal turning points. “My Red Bull manager just called me. We talked for a few minutes, and then he said, ‘Welcome to the Red Bull family, Camille.’ I was completely frozen. But inside, my soul was dancing and jumping everywhere.“

Eyes on the Horizon

With one dream achieved, new ones emerge. Bigger, bolder – just as scary they are thrilling, “My main goal at the moment is to be world champion again,“ she says. “It scares me because I want it so badly… But I know it’s a step-by-step process. You really have to trust it.“ Camille doesn’t measure progress in seasons or titles. She keeps a living list of tricks and goals: Land one, check it off, move to the next. Evolving constantly.

And to anyone dreaming just as wildly as she once did? “Just follow your dreams. No matter how big they are – even if they seem like you can’t achieve them. If you keep going, give your best and really go for those goals – the opportunities will come. For sure.“
